Every so often some of my favourite black clothes start to fade and need to be re-dyed.  I have done this on a regular basis as most of the items come up looking like new again…saving me heading to the shops.

Both the domestic dyes available to buy from your local haberdashery (ok Spotlight) had some pretty serious warnings on the pack.  Being eco-conscious I investigated further via google, directly to each brand’s site and also just asking the question.  This raised some scary issues (Proposition 65 List of carcinogenic chemicals etc…)  I compared each ingredients with this list and could not see any listed fortunately but only one declared that it was non-carcinogenic so I went with it – Rit Dye All Purpose Black.  I used the front loader machine method as I knew I had some black washing to follow.

I will let you know how the dye worked once the items are dry.
