Well I just couldn’t help myself. While cooking an in-season bunch of beetroots I couldn’t leave the left over pink water to waste, could I?
I ran downstairs, cut a piece of cotton (I always have some pre-washed handy!), folded it concertina style using a Shibori method I had read about, cut some square cardboards pieces (I would use wood blocks next time) and wrapped it in elastic bands. Once the beetroots were cooked, I plonked my “shibori” test into the hot water and left it soak for about an hour.
Enjoyed eating dinner (hence the cooking of the beetroots). I removed the tester cotton and left it dry for a day.
Next post will show the progress…
